Why this building matters
Built in 1927 to the designs of Oman & Lilienthal, the Hotel St. Clair rose 22 stories in the heart of Streeterville. Half the building held one-bedroom residences for prominent Chicagoans of the day, while its hotel rooms welcomed names like Judy Garland, Bob Hope, and Dean Martin. After years as the Inn of Chicago, it has been revitalized as The St. Clair Hotel.
